VIRTUAL REALITY
Hi everyone! Today I'll talk about virtual reality, my virtual reality experience and the benefits of virtual reality to foreign language learning.
As we understand from the name of that ''virtual reality'' means basically ''near-reality''. Virtual Reality (VR) is the use of computer technology to create a simulated environment. VR places the user inside an experience. Instead of viewing a screen in front of them, the users are immersed and able to interact with 3D worlds.
Virtual Reality's most immediately-recognizable component is the head-mounted display (HMD). It is done with VR glasses. And now, I am going to talk about my experience with this VR glasses. First I placed my cellphone inside of goggles then I wore the glasses. That way I could not see the place that I stand because the whole external light was blocked out by goggles. Thanks to my phone and goggles I felt like I stand somewhere else. As if I was in space, a few minutes later I was in a rollercoaster. I was very stressful when I felt like in a rollercoaster because I have acrophobia. Thanks to that experience I think conquered my fear.
VR can be used for education. We know that when we are doing we can learn better anything. VR provides that. Also, VR motivates students and it is so attractive for them because the students who born in this century are digital natives. With VR we can teach a subject effectively or create new activities to catch their attention. With VR students are exposed to the foreign language that way learning process becomes more attractive and the subject becomes catchy for the students. In other words, if we use VR, our lessons will be more interesting and exciting, and the students will not forget the information that they get in the lessons. Also, VR increases creativity. Since VR allows students to interact with their own imagination, that way students' skill of critical thinking and creativity enhances. Also, teachers can create group activities, games. These provide to increase students' participation and activeness in the classroom.
In brief, VR will become important for education. The important thing is, as a teacher, using VR in our lessons now and making our lessons to catchy lessons.
