Blackboard
is a tool that allows to distance learning. It is a learning management system
(LMS). Blackboard provides instructors and students with access to teaching and learning resources such as text, images, sound, audio, animations,
graphs, etc. These allow students to find material based on their
preferred learning styles. Blackboard is used in 82% of the top 200 educational
institutions worldwide.
* Blackboard provides an area to place information
about the course, assignments, and exams in multiple locations.
* It has similar sides to Moodle but it is not free.
* Via Blackboard you can access PowerPoint presentations,
old exam questions, homework answers, etc., That way you can provide students
with study tools that will improve their grades.
* It creates a collaborative environment with creating working groups among
the students. That way students can learn from each other, they can discuss what they know.
* Students and instructors can communicate on a
topic in the synchronous chat room within Blackboard. Also, real-time
communication with Whiteboard tools can be used for collaboration and off-site
office hours.
* By simulating real-life problems students are
able to repeat steps without extra expense to others.
* Instructors manage course grades online and
download them for use with other applications.
* Instructors can create practice tests and
gather student feedback online.
In brief, as a teacher, we can develop our teaching ways
with Blackboard. Because when we adapt to LMS tools, our students’ creativity
develops because our lessons become much more beneficial and catchy.
